#Wild September

So a few months ago somebody told us that nothing happens in September out in Nature as everythig is ready for winter, so me and mummy decided we would take a photo of something happening everyday, and share them with you all. So I have so far forgotten to do this - so I will share the first seven pictures now.

This little Hoverfly landed on my hand briefly thinking I was a flower :)

A Small White butterfly on the Buddleija florets that still have flowers - there were also several Hornets but these proved too difficult to get photographs of!

A very unbothered rabbit hiding behind a fence and greenery.

Those spiders are certainly still out and about :)

Now I will try and do a short post everyday with a new photo - but if not I will do every other day with two photos!

Bedtime now - enjoy the cooler evenings (we have a bat visiting the garden now!)

2020!!

Hi guys, So this is my first post of 2020 as mummy has been so busy I have not been able to get to the laptop. For those of you who have just joined me, I am a Lesser Sulphur Crested Cockatoo called Chucky and I want to tell you about the nature we see around the home, and also out and about. So on New Years Day mummy decided to go pond-dipping as she got herself a set at the beginning of December, but then work was so manic she didn't get a chance to just go out and use it. There were a few things that she manages to scoop out of the water, including a Hoglouse You can see that there is a smaller one underneath the larger one. We have since been informed that the male is the larger of the two and sits on top of the female during mating! We also saw a flat worm and a little Gammaridae (shrimp-like thing), which you can see in this video. Yesterday, mummy and GavGav went out to Slimbridge WWT. I am not allowed to go with them because of all the wild birds - apparently ...

Spooky October

Well to start spooky October - here is the little male house spider that is collecting Beau and Florances seeds that they throw out to make his little hidey hole - definitely a spooky little guy here. He has a female living just down the back of the footstool too - I think he might be waiting for her to mature, but he is quite small, so I am not even sure if he is mature himself as yet. We also had this little guy that mummy brought in on the brambles for the stick insects (there are hundreds of babies if anybody wants any!) No idea what the caterpillar turns into though. Mummy and Gav Gav also got some Hawk Moth caterpillars that were bright green: and they have now become Hawk Moths! There was a garden spider who kept building her web across the front door but luckily mummy was going through it and so she kept just moving the web off to one side. The little lady has now started building it off to the side - but the web is quite large for such a small spider - it goes...

Gossip from the garden

Sorry it has been a while - mummy has been hogging here computer, and the nature cam is currently down and awaiting repair, so I am short on photo's to share with you. The crows, magpies and rats are still visiting the garden, as are the blackbirds, but we are not seeing much of the wagtails now. We did have a collared dove that nearly landed on mummy's head the other day though! The garden is a little overgrown at the moment as mummy likes to have a 'wild' garden. Gav Gav says it is a bit too wild at the moment and mummy has to cut it all back. Hwever, there are benefits to having a wild garden - such as this pretty little grasshopper. You don't tend to see these in highly cultivated gardens as they appreciate - well I would say long grass, but the rabbit ensures there is none of that - so I guess green stuff in general?
