Spider drops

Image
Ooh hello everybody, Have you come here from mummy's blog? To find out about this picture It is a pretty poor picture as the camera refused to focus on the tiny little spider. So GavGav got interested in spiders over a year ago now. He still has a slight phobis of them, but his way of overcoming it is to find out more aboout them, and the fear transforms into interest instead. It seems to be working as he likes to go out with his sonic toothbrush, making the spiders lunge out to try and grab it, and he has also got himself two taratulas. Hmm it would appear that we do not have any photos of them yet, so I shall have to get some to show you! Anyway, this interest means that they are more likely to notice spiders doing funny, or unusual things - although mummy has always been quite good at paying attention to any animal of any shape or size. Last summer she nearly planted an extra large garden spider. She dug the hole, upended the plant out of its pot, and the spider fell into

Summer delights

I have quickly hijacked mums computer as she was out in the garden. She was sorting out some of her planters as they were getting a little messy. I was happy as it meant that I got a flower head from the Chard plant, as it is very big and over grown now. The little birds and Doris got some too - but they don't seem to get quite as much enjoyment from it as I do - they just eat it! I think she still needs to take those dead leaves off the bottom!! You cannot trust her to do anything properly (although she does manage to clean my cage reasonably well - and give me nice new boxes). She also got a whole load of new stuff for feeding the wild birds! She gets far too much for those guys - I think she must hve just forgotten about me :( This evening she had to go back out to work and so to avoid the Ed Sheeran traffic she went to the nature reserve over there. Of course, she didn't take me and so there are no pictures, but apparently there were a swan pair who had 8 little baby

Chaos!

Wow I thought my mummy had abandoned me today and run off in the sunshine. However, it turns out that she wasn't going to leave me in the house whilst she enjoyed the sun, but rather she was going to try to roast herself in a hot car due to traffic chaos outside! Gavgav didn't know where she was either - but did he come and play with me to calm me down?? Nope - he went in the shower instead. GavGav has just started his 3 12 hours shifts for this week and he is currently on nights, so he sleep during the day. This does mean that I have to be quiet through the day - which can be quite difficult when I am trying to encourage the crow in his brilliant antics! My mummy had to buy a new feeder so that the little birdies could actually get some food as the crow kept throwing the lighter feeders onto the ground. However, I think this one is cool, and I am really enjoying watching the little baby Blue Tits feeding on it and chasing the spiders on Doris's run! (I haven't been a

Introducing Myself

Image
Hi there, My mummy has finally decided to write a blog for me - so I can tell you all about the Nature we see around here. First I would like to introduce myself. I am a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, with some mino behavioural problems. My mummy got me from a pet shop when my previous owner died, and the remaining family were unable to look after me. This was about 8 years ago now! My mummy thinks that I may have had some trouble with the families younger children as my wings were very severely clipped (so that it took 3 years for them to grow back correctly) and I panic if ever I have to sit on somebodies arm, or shoulder, or pretty much anywhere (except maybe their knee if they are petting my head - for a brief time). I have some noisy little parakeets that share a room with me. They are in two cages of pairs, and they are loud when they get started (although GavGav tells me I am much louder and more annoying - I am not sure I actually believe him). I am not allowed to be in the sa
