February - The month of love

Well apparently it is - but I haven't seen any signs of it here in the bird room. Florance spends the majority of the day shouting at everybody and everything, although she does quite down a bit once mummy gets home, and Billie and Piper just seem to be squabbling a bit more. Mummy did notice that Billies beak is getting a little long, so she has changed their toys around and is adding some vitamins to their water.

The ducks have been a bit frisky on the lake. Not good when there is little ones about - they tend to panic thinking that the female duck is about to drown! Then again, some of the adults seem to think the same thing.

Anyway, I don't have any photos to share with you of drowning ducks or terrified kiddies, but I do have some more photos from the garden cam - nothing extremely exciting though i am afraid.




Apparently there was something extremely exciting under the patio slabs. And then this crow had just had enough:


 We think that this one is actually a picture of the wren that has been visiting the garden! However, with the camera colour having gone a little wierd, it could just be the robin sitting funny! Mummy is very excited that she might have caught the little girly on camera though - any ideas how to fix the colours?
There are more to come, but thanks to the set-up of the camera there are hundreds on photos to go through - all showing nothing as Doris is just within the motion detector range, but out of camera shot! It is tough going.

Spider drops

Ooh hello everybody, Have you come here from mummy's blog? To find out about this picture It is a pretty poor picture as the camera refused to focus on the tiny little spider. So GavGav got interested in spiders over a year ago now. He still has a slight phobis of them, but his way of overcoming it is to find out more aboout them, and the fear transforms into interest instead. It seems to be working as he likes to go out with his sonic toothbrush, making the spiders lunge out to try and grab it, and he has also got himself two taratulas. Hmm it would appear that we do not have any photos of them yet, so I shall have to get some to show you! Anyway, this interest means that they are more likely to notice spiders doing funny, or unusual things - although mummy has always been quite good at paying attention to any animal of any shape or size. Let's finish up May

Starting off with a couple of videos of the Blue tits before the babies fledged. They were in and out constantly!! Then we had Mr greedy crow, showing off to the camera about how many suet balls he can fit into his beak at once haha. This Magpie was finding something very tasty - we are pretty certain it was the live mealworms mummy put out and not a baby blue tit though. This little madam was winding the Blue Tits up - luckily the baby's were at the fledging stage before she found the nest! Some pictures of the pairs coming into the garden. Then the wagtails started bringing the babies in :) Flopped Doris! Just thought this was a great picture. And some baby pictures, as well as the blackbirds and hedgehogs. Right bedtime xxx

Introducing Myself

Hi there, My mummy has finally decided to write a blog for me - so I can tell you all about the Nature we see around here. First I would like to introduce myself. I am a Sulphur Crested Cockatoo, with some mino behavioural problems. My mummy got me from a pet shop when my previous owner died, and the remaining family were unable to look after me. This was about 8 years ago now! My mummy thinks that I may have had some trouble with the families younger children as my wings were very severely clipped (so that it took 3 years for them to grow back correctly) and I panic if ever I have to sit on somebodies arm, or shoulder, or pretty much anywhere (except maybe their knee if they are petting my head - for a brief time). I have some noisy little parakeets that share a room with me. They are in two cages of pairs, and they are loud when they get started (although GavGav tells me I am much louder and more annoying - I am not sure I actually believe him).
