Antics of those black birdies!
Hey guys,
I have managed to get through some more of the photos. These ones are still way out of date now, but I am trying to catch up with everything! Mummy still has photos from December to pop on facebook, so I am struggling to get time to find the good photos from the Nature Cam.
I can confirm that the crows, magpies and wagtail are still regular visitors to the garden, with the robin and blackbirds popping in every now and again. The Blckbirds are very good at satying off camera though, so I might not have any pics for you over several days.
Anyway - back to the story telling - (I just went to get my photos and mummy has deleted a whole load of them - many of the funny ones have gone!!)
So first up we have these two characters. This is the three juveniles, and they are such clowns! They keep me amused for ages whilst mummy is at work - they are into everything! It did take them awhile to find where mummy had put the peanut butter cup (in the bird bath), but when they found it they had some fantastic squabbles over whose turn it was.
Then Daddy turned up - guess tht made the decision easier. However, it didn't stop them from harrassing him to try and get him to let them have some too. Look at this one!!
And the take down, while Doris watches on. Do note that one of the juvs tok the opportunity to quickly hop onto the bird bath and get a beak full, whilst Daddy is in a feather ball with the rude young'un.
The little wagtail did come into the garden to see what was around on the floor. He is quite clever. He wasn't interested in the peanut cup at all, because he know the crows are likely to drop plenty of crumbs on the ground, and then he can eat them with minimal energy expenditure.
The magpie did also come and have a look, but I don't think they are too sure about the stone birds that sit on the bird bath. I certainly can't recall ever seeing them drink at the bird bath like the crows do.
However, they have no qualms about popping into Doris's run - I have even seen them peck her on the nose for getting too close to them haha.
This guy then proceeded to throw the cup out of the water. I think he likes his water to be uncluttered (unlike mummy's house).
We did have two Blackbirds come into the garden on this day also - a boy and a girl. They were not interested in the peanut cup at all though - they just wanted the mealworms, and even preferring to dig up their own fresh worms instead!
As you can see from these next photos mummy was a little late putting the fat balls out, and it didn't take long for the big birdies to come back into the garden.
And of course it was the crows that spotted it first.
Didn't take them long t run off with it did it? No we need some tips on how to flag it to the other birds so that they get a chance too haha.
Oooh Doris got her new tunnel on this day also - she still hasn't used it though - too long I think.
And Herny playing out on fresh grass.
I will say tata for now, with a cute picture of myself for you:
